“Dust ‘Til Sun” is the second work of Alice Viola, an Ep that collects 6 original songs composed by the singer and arranged in Munich, together with the great drummer and producer Chris Stöger.

The Ep is a confirmation of identity, strength and courage of Alice Viola who once again lays herself bare, speaks directly to the listener who is guided into her world, discovering her deepest feelings and reflections, but this time with a confidence and personality, which is also reflected musically.

“Dust ‘Til Sun” is strongly influenced by sounds that have always inspired Alice Viola, such as Soul and R&B, mixed with modern sounds of Neo Soul and Jazz harmonies.

Rich of groove and soulful melodies, in every songs there is passion and a particular attention to the backing vocals arrangements, where Alice Viola wanted to blend her voice perfectly with all the other elements and sounds to create very intimate atmosphere; sometime to emphasise dark and aggressive feelings, other times to fly away dreaming.

“Volcanic, exciting, deep, energetic, sometimes sharp other silky”, are the words to define the style of Alice Viola’s music and personality.

Music for Alice Viola is the medium through which she digs in, gets to know, observes herself and her surroundings, exorcising insecurities, fears and transforming them into energy.

Music is the bridge between Alice Viola and her fantasy, her creativity, her emotions which materialize through sounds, melodies and beats in which she often wants to lose herself.

The Ep was recorded with Alice Viola’s band “ Alice Viola & The Shades” , that sees incredible musicians of the German music scene: Andre Schwager on keyboards, Diego Riedemann on guitar, Rene Haderer on bass and Chris Stöger on drums.
The Ep was mixed by Chris Stöger and Willy Löster, mastered by Alex Kloss and includes the 3 singles : Dust’ Til Sun, Dreamer and Sunday Afternoon accompanied by 3 videos that you can find on YouTube.

Sunday Afternoon is a song about a typical Sunday when I felt free and carefree; one of those days when you feel in harmony with the rest of the world and you decide that you want to live without thinking about the past or the future, but only to the present, enjoy the moment, as if it were the last. The song was composed by me and arranged with Chris Stoeger, recorded with my band Alice Viola & The Shades (Chris Stoeger on drums, André Schwager hammond,Diego Riedeamnn on guitar and Rene Haderer on double bass). The song, like the rest of the album, was mixed by Chris Stoeger and Willy Loester and mastered by Alex Kloss. mastered by Alex Kloss. Sunday Afternoon, which will be released on June 4, just two months after my younger sister, Sophia, suddenly passed away, has acquired a symbolic importance for me; I wrote the song a few years ago, but today, it seems that it was written to give me strength in this incredibly difficult moment of my life. It’s not a coincidence that no third single was planned for this Ep, but then I realized that I had to do something, both for her and for me, to move forward and I felt that this positive track accompanied by a third video made with RKH Studio of Andre Dipha and Edoardo Massaglia was the right decision. The video tells through clips of old and new videos and photos, my life, my family, music, friends because I think that every person and even more an artist, has the need to leave something to the world, a testimony that speaks about himself and makes him feel alive, somehow forever.

“DREAMER” is the second single of the Ep Dust ‘Til Sun, that will be release on March 5th on every digital stores. The song is talking about the “dreamer”, conceived as a fearless hero, who chooses every day to dream and fight with devotion and sacrifice for his dreams, no matter what people say. The song that has neo soul nuances and a jazz vocal phrasing is another composition by Alice Viola arranged together with the great producer Chris Stöger. Alice Viola wants to lead the listener, who in the routine of daily life forgets to dream, to free his mind in her intimate dream; that’s why the refrain of the song has no words, but only backing vocals that with their magical harmonization have the function to elevate him, at least for a while, from the earthly dimension. Dreamer will be accompanied by a YOUTUBE Video Premiere on 03.12 at 6pm.The video shot in Turin by Andrea Dipa & Edoardo Massaglia is a RHK Production.

DUST ’TIL SUN, the first single of the homonyms Ep, is born from my desire to share a deep and intimate reflection, speaks about strength, energy, positivity and how only by finding the courage not to close your heart, you can rise from a moment of total darkness and pain to find yourself again. No one can do it for you; only you can choose to be happy. Find contact with nature, see beauty in all the things that surround us and believe in human relationships; only this way we can rebuild ourselves. LOVE IS THE ANSWER.

Alice Viola Music

About me

Munich based Italian singer and composer Alice Viola, has shaped a special combination of sounds influenced by Neo Soul , R&B, Funk and Jazz singing in English , Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

Alice Viola is graduated in Art Media and Entertainment at the University of Parma, she studied vocal technique with Maika Vilchez at the Escuela de Musica Creativa in Madrid, while she was part of the famous Dani Reus’ Gospel Choir “Gospel Factory”.

In New York she took singing classes with Rene Manning(Count Basie Orquestra) at the Brooklyn Conservatory, she participated to the Bob Stoloff’ scat workshops and the Barry Harris’ Jazz harmony workshop at Lincoln Center.

In Italy Alice Viola refined her jazz studies, studying piano with Stefania Tallini, jazz singing with Elisabetta Antonini in Rome and with Carla Marcotulli at The Licinio Refice Conservatory in Frosinone, which she did not finish because her move to Munich, Germany.

In 2017 Alice Viola released her debut album with 11 original songs composed by her: ” A Long Trip”, a project that moves around the spiritual and artistic journey experienced as growth, evolution, research and discovery of herself.

A Long Trip symbolically encapsulate all that the singer has developed inwardly during the intense years spent abroad living in: Madrid, NYC, Montreal, Toronto, Rome and Munich, where she has had an intense concert activity parallel to her work as vocal coach for singers, actors and dubbers.(Voice Art Dubbing Rome/Naples/Bari, Cento Per Cento Musica-Rome, Melody Music School-Rome, Performing Art Studio-Munich, Melodrom Musik Schule-Munich, MMC Musik Schule-Munich, Silver Stage Tone Studio-Munich).

Some of A Long Trip’s tracks, including “1000 Mistakes” and “Little Girl”, have been broadcast on British radio stations specialise in Jazz and Soul music and have put Alice Viola at 9th place on the Soul 2018 charts: BBC Oxford 95Æ2¨,BBC Solent Paul Miller show¨,BBC Surrey¨ BBC Sussex¨ GFM 96Æ6 Gluchester Soulfusion Electric Soul Jerry Hipkins show¨ Solar Radio Soul Station¨John Osborne\ show, Stereonotte -Radio Rai 1 Max De Tomassi’ show.

In Germany she performed with her band “Alice Viola & The Shades”, Jazz Kitchen, Brisa D’Oro, Som Do Mar, Christopher Lehner Quintet.

Alice Viola released on January 29th 2021 the first single of her homonymous new Ep called “Dust ‘Til Sun”:

The single was released together with a Youtube Video Premiere that had a beautiful success with almost 22.000 views in 2 weeks.

The video was shot by Il Brain Agency, in a beautiful place called “Aquila Waterfalls” between the montains.

Alice Viola was looking for a place where the bursting strength and the immensity of nature could reinforce and emphasize the concept she wanted to express in the song.
